Written by Rodney T W
When I went up on deck of the Costa Concordia early in the morning to get a look at Rhodes, I was surprised to see the walls, turrets and castle around the city. It had a Disneyland-look I didn't expect. For a cruise

Arnitha is a small picturesque farming village hidden amongst hills in the south central part of the island. Its closest neighbours are Gennadi and Apolakkia, and is characterized as a traditional settlement. A natural spring Kato Vrisi is found at the entrance to the village, and at the end of the village, going up the mountain there is the small tabernacle dedicated to Saint Niconos (13th century). From there you can admire the panoramic views of the coastal areas and the mountains of Mesanagros, leading to the monastery of the Virgin Mary Skiadeni. In the center of the village is the temple of Saint George who is the patron saint of the village. The surrounding area is made up of fruit-bearing trees and agricultural land. It is worth visiting the area of Fountana-Vodi where there are waterfalls and a forest of conifers. There is also a gorge in Kleisoura. There are many country lanes for those who like walking and hiking and the area is cool even in the hot summer months.
