Nice port visit from cruise ship

Written by Rodney T W
When I went up on deck of the Costa Concordia early in the morning to get a look at Rhodes, I was surprised to see the walls, turrets and castle around the city. It had a Disneyland-look I didn't expect. For a cruise

Afandou - Kolymbia Resort

Municipality of Afandou
Population: 181
25km from Rhodes Town

Kolymbia resort is perfectly situated on the east coast of Rhodes between Rhodes Town and Lindos. It is a very cosmopolitan resort that offers an ideal place for a family holiday. Due to its location opposite 7 springs, Kolymbia is very green, and still shows the remains of an irrigation system used by the Italians during their occupation of the island. In fact the main road leading into the resort is lined with hundreds of Eucalyptus trees that give off a very distinct odour.

There are two main beaches at the far end of the resort, both are well organized and offer facilities such as water sports, umbrellas, toilets, canteens and restaurants, one of the beaches is sandy whilst the other is pebbly with lots of little rock pools for the younger members of the family to play in.

There is no central square in Kolymbia as you would find in other more traditional villages, but there are numerous shops, cafeterias, bars, and restaurants which are lively and offer memorable nights out.
