Nice port visit from cruise ship

Written by Rodney T W
When I went up on deck of the Costa Concordia early in the morning to get a look at Rhodes, I was surprised to see the walls, turrets and castle around the city. It had a Disneyland-look I didn't expect. For a cruise

Ialysos Beach

Along the shore lies the organised beach, with the gardens and swimming pool just behind and at the rear the multi-storey hotel with its tennis courts and other facilities. Wherever you may find yourself along the Ialysos shoreline, the scenery is more or less the same. Just as at Ixia, the hotel beaches alternate with organised public beaches, used mainly by visitors from those local hotels that do not have their own private beach. An exposed beach, with sand and pebbles, where the water rapidly becomes quite deep. An ideal place for those who love swimming and for surfers - there's often a good wind. Equipment for hire is available from the Pro Horizon water sports centre right on the beach. There are kiosks, mini-markets, fast food outlets, cafes and restaurants just a short distance away. (8 km from Rhodes town)
