What an incredible place. Rhodes offers almost any kind of holiday you could want. If you want peace and quiet, youíll find it on Rhodes. If you want activities and night-life, Rhodes has got it. If you want to explore history and culture, that is there too. The island is clean, the locals are very warm and friendly to tourists. English is spoken everywhere and most signs are in English too.
You're unlikely to pick Ixia for a swim unless you're actually staying at one of the hotels nearby or you're looking for waves. Basically this is a series of adjacent beaches rather than one single beach, most of them organised and operated by the seafront hotels. Some sections are private others are open to the public. The beaches are narrow and have a mixture of sand and pebbles, you're likely to find seaweed, too, as it's usually quite windy here. It's a favourite spot for surfers with two water sports centres renting boards and jet-skis. Along the esplanade behind the beach there are supermarkets, kiosks, bakeries, patisseries and restaurants. (4 km from Rhodes town)
