Rhodes Island

Written by Tim Ross
What an incredible place. Rhodes offers almost any kind of holiday you could want. If you want peace and quiet, youíll find it on Rhodes. If you want activities and night-life, Rhodes has got it. If you want to explore history and culture, that is there too. The island is clean, the locals are very warm and friendly to tourists. English is spoken everywhere and most signs are in English too.

Charaki Beach

Children searching for shells among the pebbles, couples gazing out to sea from the balconies of their rented rooms, sun-burned mothers wheeling push-chairs up and down there s a definite family atmosphere to this attractive little bay. It's mainly frequented by tourists renting rooms nearby, but families of local people also come out with their umbrellas and settle themselves on the no-charge section in the centre of the beach (umbrellas and sun beds are for hire at each end).

The right-hand side of the beach has large pebbles, to the left there is sand. If you choose to swim at the far right end of the beach you'll have a fine view of the Feraklos castle, and also be closer to the famous Argo fish taverna, chosen by numerous celebrities in the past.

Along the promenade with the rented rooms there are mini-markets, cafes, a foreign press agency and also the delightful new trattoria run by Mila from Italy, who makes her own pastas and pizzas. (36 km from Rhodes town)
